How to Easily Write an E-book and Start Generating Sales

Did you ever realize how much knowledge is in your head that other people need, want and are willing to pay you for? What most business owners don’t understand is that in less than a week you can author an e-book without difficulty. It doesn’t matter if your expertise is accounting, yoga, jewelry making or real estate. There are thousands of people who want to learn what you know and are willing to pay for that knowledge. And the Internet provides you with an easy way to reach them. Not only will an e-book provide you with a way to sell your knowledge, there are other advantages to writing one as well.

An e-book will identify you as an author and expert. This gives you a good bit of leverage with prospects who are considering doing business with you. It gives you an edge over your competitors and sets you apart. It’s a way to vastly increase your status as the “go-to” person.

Most people hesitate to write an e-book because they think it will take months like a print book. But e-books don’t need to be nearly as long or complex. You can record your content by just speaking into a microphone, uploading the file and having it transcribed. I use a transcription service that charges only $25 for each hour of audio, which is about 24 or 25 pages.

Creating a cover for your e-book is also easy. There is easy-to-use e-book creator software that works well with Adobe Illustrator and has pre-loaded templates to which you just add some additional graphics and text, or you can outsource the cover for very little money to someone who does this kind of work.

And best of all, for some reason e-books generally sell for more than print books. So your profit margin is exceptional since you have no per-sale costs.

E-books can be used to generate income in a variety of ways. Here are just a few:

  • sell it on your website
  • attach a dollar value to it, then give it away for free if people opt-in to your mailing list. These are hot leads interested in what you have to say.
  • you can list in on e-book sites where thousands of people search by topic
  • you can sell it on E-bay
  • you can offer to sell it through Clickbank where other marketers will choose to sell it as your affiliate. Clickbank is a place where over 10,000 products are available for business owners who want to sell additional products that they didn’t actually create. They become your affiliate sale team and Clickbank handles paying your affiliate and you. They take care of everything and make it easy to be a “seller”.
  • you can add your book to someone’s Amazon store where similar products are sold in your niche
  • you can find other joint venture partners with a similar target market who would be willing to sell your e-book for a percentage of sales
  • you can give away your e-book and ask others to give it away, while embedding lots of links back to your web sales pages into your e-book so readers click through.

Those are just a few ways to make e-books generate cash for your business. With the economy struggling, it’s time to think outside the box and try new marketing methods and strategies to generate sales. E-books are easy and give you a great return on investment.

You have no product costs because an e-book is downloadable. There are no printing or mailing costs. If you are a local business, with an e-book you can share your knowledge and sell to a worldwide audience.

The possibilities are huge.

Its true, e-books are an excellent way to generate traffic to web sites and to make money online, and as was shown above, there are many ways that you can use e-books to do different things in your business.

I am an e-book author, and I love writing e-books. I find them quite easy to produce because you aren’t using typewriters and paper to produce them. You’re using bits and bytes, which in my opinion, is much easier to deal with than paper.

Just about anyone can produce a quality e-book on any particular subject. A matter of factt, there are e-books on just about any subject you can possibly think of. There’s always room for more information on those diverse topics because everyone has their own twist on things, and that’s what makes e-books so interestting to read.

As far as your business goes, e-books are an excellent tool that you can use to get people more familiar with you and your business because you can use the e-book to further describe the business and what it has to offer, plus you can use e-books to promote products and services that you are offering as well.

Basically all you need to create an e-book is a topic, and some software, such as notepad for Windows, or Microsoft Word, and an e-book compiler program which will take your material and either turn it into a stand-alone executable file, or software that will take your text and convert it into the popular PDF file format.

Most e-books today are in PDF format because the PDF file format is so much easier to deal with, but if you need to provide a web experience inside your e-books, then you will need to compile them into a stand-alone executable file. However, in order to compile your book into an executable file, the book must be written much like a web site which is done in HTML.

There are pros and cons of both the executable and the PDF file formats, but only you can really decide which of these is best for what you’re doing. Nobody can make that decision for you.

I have two products that I strongly recommend you to check out. One of them is called Tips Tools and Tactics To Have Your Own Info Product, and that can be found at the following here below.

Both of these products are fine products for you to check out because they’ll give you a jumpstart on your business and e-book production. I own both of these products and I am selling both of them, so I should know. I also use what’s inside them for my own business as well.

I give the author of this blog credit for what they have presented because I personally find the material on this blog professionally written and consistent. Thanks so much for what you have offered to those who come here and read.

    Janis,

Nice to see something professional on the web from a “neighbor”(?)…

I’m thinking about trying to earn a few $$ through the Internet and just recently put up my own blog @ blogger.com.

I’ve thought long and hard about what niche I could go into and came up with an idea (one of my passions) to post entries on my blog briefly touching on the particulars – but at the same time put together an ebook for later release that refines the details.

My question to you is how should I promote the site and ebook so that I don’t sound like I’m just in it for the money?

It’s difficult these days – with the economy and all – to not show $$ concerns in just about every sentence.

I’ve had journalism experience and training through the Army, a two year degree in Computer Systems Technology and a course in Website Design… Although all of these took place several years ago, I’m getting more and more driven to get something going on the Internet and I need some more A-B-C, 1, 2, 3 info in order to feel confident at what I’m doing.

I realize my chosen “niche” isn’t one of the most sought after topics – but, we never know how things will wind up, do we?

Anyway, if you could take a look at my blog and offer up some design/product ideas, I’d greatly appreciate it…

    Thanks loads,

    Robert

    Robert,

If you have something of value and people want it then they’re happy to pay you for it. You have to get over a fear of selling. Of course you deserve to get paid for your information if it helps the reader. You wouldn’t expect to go to Barnes and Noble and get books for free because the store was afraid you’d think they were in it for the money, would you?

Well you need to think the same way. That said, you need to be sure there is a need in your niche, otherwise you’ll have difficulty selling your e-book no matter how good it is.

    Hope this helps,
    Janis
